A 25-year-old man who sustained critical injuries in a multi-vehicle accident on the N2 near Sedgefield this past weekend has died.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, said that police have now changed the docket from a case of reckless and negligent driving to one of culpable homicide.
The name of the man, who is believed to be from Port Elizabeth, has not yet been released. His wife and two friends survived the horror crash late on Sunday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Pojie said that the driver of the vehicle that crashed into the cars was detained for questioning and blood samples taken.
However, as police still try to piece together the full details, it remains unclear when the man, who allegedly fled the scene in a passing truck, will make his first court appearance where he could still face additional charges.
