Security guards robbed of firearms in George

Police in George are searching for a group of suspects who robbed two security guards of their firearms.

Spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies says the officers were busy at a petrol station getting fuel for their vehicle when they were overpowered on Wednesday morning.

He says the incident happened on the corner of Discovery and York street at 6 am.

The suspects fled on foot and are still at large.
