Second suspect in Jayde's murder to be identified after court appearance

A 28-year old man will appear in the Port Elizabeth magistrate's court on Monday in connection with the abduction and murder of PE teacher, Jayde Panayiotou.

He was arrested in Uitenhage on Wednesday night.

Today, several media organisations identified the suspect as Panayiotou's husband.

Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Marinda Mills, issued the following response.

"The SAP will not release the identity of a suspect until he has appeared in court. One has appeared and therefore he was identified. We are also not ruling out the possibility of more arrests in this case"

Meanwhile, 31-year old Luthando Siyoli, who was arrested earlier this week in connection with Panayiotou's murder, made a brief appearance in the PE Magistrate's court on Thursday.

His case was remanded to the 7th of May, and he remains in custody.

Earlier, police said there was a prima facie case against the two suspects and robbery has been ruled out as the motive for the murder.
