Second Caltex hit by armed robbers in less than 24-hours in Port Elizabeth

A second petrol station in Nelson Mandela Bay has been hit by armed robbers in less than 24 hours.

Police spokesperson, Col. Pricilla Naidu says six men robbed a Caltex filling station in Fernglen on Thursday morning.

She says the men arrived two vehicles and forced the staff into the shop at gunpoint.

They took an undisclosed amount of money and fled, but not before filling up the Toyota mini-bus and a sedan.

No shots were fired and no one was injured.

The robbery comes 24 hours after a gang blew up a drop safe at a filling station in Perseverance.

On Wednesday, a gang of robbers, also driving a Quantum Minibus, struck at the Caltex garage in Perseverance.

Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge said once inside the shop these armed suspects demanded money and the location of the drop safe.

Beetge said two cashiers on duty were tied up and locked in the bathroom before the drop safe was blown up with an unknown explosive device.

“The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene with a white Nissan bakkie,”

Police are appealing to anyone with information which could assist the investigation to contact SAPS.

No arrests have been made in either case.
