The assault case against ANC Nelson Mandela Bay councillors, Andile Lungisa and Gamalihleli Maqula, has once again been postponed in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's court.
The matter was remanded last week to allow Lungisa's lawyer, Luthando Nqakayi, to get the case dockets.
However, the matter was postponed on Thursday because the lawyer was not available.
The case was postponed again to 24 August.
The charges against the two ANC councillors stem from a violent brawl that broke out in a Council meeting last November.
Lungisa is accused of hitting DA councillor Rano Kayser over the head with a glass jug‚ while Maqula is accused of stabbing DA chief whip Werner Senekal in the back with a sharp object.
The pair are out on bail of R1000 rand each.
Meanwhile, the case against a former DA activist accused of making defamatory allegations about Nelson Mandela Bay Executive Mayor, Athol Trollip, was postponed in the Port Elizabeth Regional Court on Thursday.
The trial of Nonthutuzelo Jack was expected to get underway on Thursday, however the matter was postponed to 7 September "for further investigation".
Forty-seven-year-old Jack, from Tshwete Village, is accused of defaming Trollip by claiming that he had offered her a bribe to “dig up dirt” on DA provincial chairperson Veliswa Mvenya.
Jack made the claims to a newspaper which were published last year in the run up to the 2016 local government elections.
According to the charge sheet, Jack is facing a charge of "criminal defamation" for falsely accusing Trollip of having offered her money, in exchange for working for his faction in the party, digging up dirt on Mvenya and adding her name to the DA’s candidate list for the 2016 municipal elections.
