A seasoned detective has been brought in to intensify the search for Sylvia Wittal who was last spoken to on the 30th of December.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says although the docket is still that of a missing person, they are not ruling out suicide or foul play.
She says Detective-Constable Ridwaan Baatjies of Humewood SAPS has taken over the investigation and will probe every possible clue that led to her disappearance.
It is alleged that Sylvia last spoke to her ex-boyfriend Kevin Crouse via the telephone to make arrangements to see their children.
It was earlier reported that Crouse was Wittal's ex-husband, but the couple reportedly never tied the knot.
Crouse opened up a missing person report on the 2nd of January when she was not home or reachable on her phone on the day he returned their children.
The missing Wittal's silver Kia Picanto was found abandoned at Sacramento in Schoenmakerskop and locals said it was parked there for at least two days.
Colonel Naidu says her car was impounded and is undergoing forensic testing.
Her phone was also left at home.
Several searches have been conducted by police around the area, including a community search last weekend, also with no positive results.
Wittal is a German National with close family members who still live abroad.
Police are appealing to anyone who could assist in tracing Wittal or may have any information, no matter how irrelevant one may think it is, to contact D/Const Baatjies on 073 1303018
Detective/Constable Baatjies is an award-winning detective who secured the conviction of Sizwe Jika who brutally murdered 86-year-old Anne Smit, 26-year-old mother Kelly Bain, and 83-year-old Anne Ferreira.
