Search for missing Mossel Bay 'cave dweller' continues as mystery deepens

The search for a missing Mossel Bay woman, 30-year-old Katrina Michaels will continue along the cliff face of the St Blaize Trail on Wednesday.

Michaels, who allegedly lives with her husband in caves in the vicinity of The Point, has been missing since Monday.

According to police, a bloodstain and hair was found at the bottom of the cliff on Tuesday. Police initially thought that they spotted her body at the bottom of the cliff but were mistaken.

Katrina's husband was taken in for questioning in the afternoon, but was later released.

Police have opened an inquest docket.

In the meantime, a man who went missing on the St Blaize trail two days ago, Dieter van den Berg, arrived at his Mossel Bay home on Tuesday night.

Police say Van den Berg, who was last seen on the St Blaize Trail, told his family that he was assaulted.

He will be questioned by police on Wednesday.
