The search is expected to continue on Monday for five members of the Motherwell Rugby Club who were swept out to sea at Bluewater Bay in Port Elizabeth on Sunday.
One person drowned while 15 others were plucked from the sea when a group of 21 people were caught in a strong rip current and swept out to sea.
NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, says an extensive search was conducted throughout the afternoon for the missing men by the NSRI, municipal life-savers, as well as an EMS helicopter.
Police have opened an inquest docket.
SA Rugby has also sent a message of condolence to the Motherwell Rugby Club whose members had been preparing for a rugby tournament in Cape Town.

The boat had apparently been in a tight turn when 35-year-old Lesley Vermaak fell out of the boat and disappeared under water.
Police divers recovered his body late Sunday afternoon.
