The search for a businessman missing at sea in Chintsa will continue on Thursday.
The 38-year-old Robert Walter Ernst Frauenstein went bodyboarding on Tuesday and the alarm was raised when his board, with bite marks, washed up later in the day.
A spokesperson for the National Sea Rescue Institute(NSRI) Craig Lambinon says the bite marks could be from a shark and this will now be investigated.
The bodyboard is now in the possession of the Department of Environment Affairs.
Police spokesperson, Captain Khaya Tonjeni said they would on Thursday conduct a full scan of the shoreline as well as a search and patrol.
He said the patrol would be undertaken with a vessel while the beach would be combed by search and rescue.
The Buffalo City Metro and NSRI have issued a warning to bathers to be cautious along the coastline between East London and North of Chinsta.
