A scuffle broke out outside the Walmer Police Station in Port Elizabeth on Thursday morning, when a meeting was called to address a contractors' issue.
Janse van Rensburg says the trouble started on Wednesday in the Walmer township, where a contractor was doing work.
Locals were reportedly dissatisfied, because he was using workers who live in KwaZakhele, and the ensuing events led to charges of assault and intimidation being laid at the police station.
She says a meeting was called on Thursday morning, where the tensions flared up again.
No one has been arrested and there have been no reports of injuries.
