A number of schools in Port Elizabeth's Northern Areas will be closed again on Tuesday for the second day running.
Irate parents closed down the institutions on Monday and vowed that they would not be reopened until a raft of grievances they have with the Education Department are adequately addressed.
The on-going battle with the education department dates back to this time last year and at a well-attended parents' meeting last night, it was resolved that the schools would remain closed for now.
Northern Areas Education Forum Chairman Ronnie Matthys said key issues that need to be resolved by the education department include overcrowding and the allocation of school budgets.
"I have to state there have been some promises. There is a meeting today with a team of the Premier to address the issues. We will also have another meeting with parents on Wednesday to report back on what transpired." he said.
