Parents from schools in Port Elizabeth northern areas will hold a meeting at Cleary Park Bread of Life ministry centre to address the ongoing problem of teacher shortages and curriculum backlog at schools.
Andrew Sauls of the Bethelsdorp school governing body unit, says school governing body chairpersons from the 55 primary schools and 15 highs schools are expected to attend the meeting on Thursday to discuss over crowded classrooms and how the SGB is handling the problem.
Sauls says on Tuesday he visited Dr A. W. Habelgaarn Primary School in which there are only six employed teachers although the school has been newly renovated.
He says although teachers are positive they are demoralised by the current situation.
Sauls added engagements have been made with the department of education since 2012, however up until now there is a deliberate slow implementation of a court order granted by the PE High Court.
"2012 when we engaged as the SGB forum the provincial and national department of education, the outcomes culminated on the 3rd of August when the high court awarded all of what is needed at our schools and the court order was accepted but up until now I must say there has been a very deliberate slow implementation of the court order." says Sauls.
