School girls show support for rape-accused PE teacher

 A group of school girls believed to be from Linkside High School arrived at the Port Elizabeth Magistrates court on Friday to show support for a teacher who is charged with the statutory rape of a learner.

The group of girls who were not dressed in school uniform embraced the 52-year old teacher, saying things like ''We miss you sir'' and ''When are you coming back?''.

The state alleges that he had a sexual relationship with a school girl from Linkside High since September 2011 and their relationship reportedly continued for at least three years.

She is now 18 years old.

The case against the teacher was postponed to the 3rd of February for further investigation.

He is out on bail of a thousand rand.
