Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor, Ben Fihla has told Council that the number of service delivery protests in the Metro has been declining due to the deployment of the Rapid Task Team.
He warned, however, that lawlessness under the guise of service delivery protests cannot be tolerated and must end.
Fihla told Council on Thursday that service delivery protests were focused on housing, singling out shoddy workmanship as one reason for this - as well as the shortage of land.
He added that the provision of land for Seaview residents needed to be expedited.
The Mayor acknowledged that the public participation issue remained a big challenge, adding that something needs to be done soon.
