Another service delivery protest rocks Buffalo City

Buffalo City Metro has been hit by yet another service delivery protest.

On Thursday the community of Amalinda Forrest, and RDP housing community in East London, took to the streets barricading the road and burning tyres.

However members of the community around the scene at the time Algoa FM news arrived refused to comment on the reason for the protest.

Police spokesperson Captain Mluleki Mbi says no arrests were made.

Meanwhile Buffalo City Metro spokesperson Thanduxolo Matebese says they suspect the protests have nothing to do with service delivery.

Matebese adds that no formal communication or memorandum has been handed over to the metro by the Amalinda Forest community.

"We were concerned about the spate of violent protests we have seen recently. Three weeks ago we had committee meetings with the members of the public where they voiced their concerns and the metro tabled what they would be doing for the citizens. In some cases we suspect that it has nothing to do with service delivery but there might be other reasons behind it." says Matebese.
