The SA Weather Service in Gqeberha has issued an orange level 9 warning for disruptive rain on Monday evening into Tuesday leading to flooding over the Joubertina and Willowmore areas in the Eastern Cape.
It says an orange level 8 warning has also been issued for disruptive rain over the Buffalo City Metro and the Amathole and OR Tambo District Municipalities as well as the Mbizana Local Municipality, while an orange level 6 warning for disruptive rain is expected over the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, and Sarah Baartman District Municipality on Monday.
Weather Office spokesperson, Garth Sampson says some welcome spring rain fell over Nelson Mandela Bay's main catchment area in the Langkloof at the weekend.
He says between 30mm and 50mm was measured until 8am on Monday.
"The good or bad news is that the level 9 warning for disruptive rain and flooding in the Joubertina / Willowmore areas still applies. Although there were clear skies over Nelson Mandela Bay on Monday morning, these conditions are expected to move in on Monday evening into Tuesday", Sampson said.
The SA Weather Service is expected to issue updated forecasts on Monday afternoon.
