Port Elizabeth police arrested a 34-year-old man for a triple murder and the attempted murder of four other people in a shooting incident in Booysens Park earlier this month.
The victims were eight-year-old Ruaan Willemse, Deacon van Rooyen (16) and Chadwin Calvert (17) who died in a hail of bullets in a house in Capulet Street.
Four other people were wounded in the mass shooting and admitted to hospital.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said two armed suspects kicked open the door to the house and approached a 26-year-old man, snatching a gold chain from his neck.
She said the men took two cell phones before opening fire on the occupants inside the house.
“The Bethelsdorp task team members were informed to assist in tracing the suspect. In the last three days several houses were searched however on Sunday they noticed a suspicious green Golf in Booysens Park and they stopped the vehicle,” Naidu said.
She said the wanted suspect was found in the car while SAPS also arrested another suspect, aged 20, who was wanted for a murder and attempted murder case in July.
Naidu said both men, who are affiliated to the Satan’s gang, will appear in court on Tuesday.
The search for the second suspect linked to the Capulet Street shooting is still continuing.
