The Sarah Baartman heritage site at Hankey in the Eastern Cape has been vandalised.
Uitenhage police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Gerda Swart, says they received a report from a community member on Saturday that a group of people had been seen at the gravesite.
Swart says it was established that paint had been daubed on a commemmorative plaque at the Sarah Baartman memorial.
A case of malicious damage to property and contravention of the Heritage Act is being investigated.
