Police in East London have arrested a 34 year old suspect for allegedly lying to the police about a robbery.
Captain Stephen Marais says the woman claimed she was robbed of a substantial amount of money after going to the bank at the Beacon Bay retail park on Monday
Police had a helicopter and ground team dispatched and after further investigation and visual footage they realised the charge was false.
The woman will appear in court on Wednesday and will face charges of purgery and defeating the ends of justice.
Marais says police will not tolerate false claims like this one as they waste valuable resources.
