SAPS vehicles vandalised during Butterworth protest

Eastern Cape police have taken 11 people in for questioning following acts of violence and vandalism, during a protest near Butterworth.

A police spokesperson Colonel Sibongile Soci says two police vehicles were damaged on Wednesday morning when protesters pelted cars with stones.

Protesters blocked the entrances of Butterworth townships and shops closed their doors out of fears of being looted.

The Provincial police commissioner strongly condemned the acts of vandalism.
