Gqeberha police said they towed away 25 vehicles belonging to e-hailing taxi drivers who blockaded a section of the N2 westbound on Thursday.
The protest by a group of e-hailing drivers followed a spate of recent attacks, blamed on mini-bus taxi operators, and in which at least two vehicles were torched.
Thursday’s protest began earlier in the morning and led to a massive disruption to traffic on the N2 towards Baywest Mall.
No arrests were made.
Thursday’s protest followed an attack on an e-hailing driver on Monday when several men jumped out of a mini-bus and allegedly assaulted the driver who managed to escape before his vehicle was set alight.
Last Wednesday a video showing an e-hailing driver being assaulted and kidnapped at petrol went viral on social media.
However, police said at the time that no case had been opened.
Algoa FM News understands that talks are underway between local authorities and the warring groups to find a solution to the dispute.
