The South African National Roads Agency says it is investing an estimated R500-million in a road infrastructure project in the Buffalo City Metro.
SANRAL has announced the improvement of the N2 from Green River to Buffalo River Bridge - a contract to the value of R500-million.
Addressing representatives of the community during the announcement on Friday, Eastern Cape Transport MEC, Weziwe Tikana-Gxothiwe urged them to 'jealously' guard the project and ensure that there were no delays as a result of community feuds.
SANRAL Southern Region Regional Manager, Mbulelo Peterson said communities would play a vital role in the project as a source of skills and labour.
Construction is expected to start in mid-April.
