Tributes have been streaming for former newspaper editor, Gavin Stewart, who has died.
Stewart, who was also the former head of the Rhodes University Journalism Department, died in Cape Town on Monday night.
The SA National Editors Forum said Stewart was an energetic member of Sanef from its inception, supporting its ideals and contributing his time to ensure Sanef policy was in line with its journalistic ideals of quality and accuracy.
Sanef veteran member Raymond Louw said Stewart made an enormous contribution to newspapers and newspaper journalism.
Daily Dispatch editor, Bongani Siqoko, says even though Stewart lived in Cape Town he still wrote the Chiel column for the paper.
