The Chairperson for the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) in Kouga was killed in a car accident early on Saturday evening.
Police in Kariega identified the victim as 54-year-old Siphiwo Mkosana who lives in Jeffrey's Bay.
Police spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart says Mkosana died after the white Volkswagen Polo Cross he was driving, collided with a silver Polo and a Caddy in Melbrooks Avenue.
She says he died at the scene, while five other people in the other vehicles sustained minor injuries.
Swart says the circumstances surrounding the accident is not yet known and a case of culpable homicide is being investigated.
