The Southern African Music Rights Organisation has opened its third contact centre in the country in Nelson Mandela Bay.
The launch of the office on Tuesday was the result of a collaboration between Samro and the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, particularly its Directorate of Economic Development, Tourism and Agriculture.
Samro research consultant Sibongile Mara says the opening of the contact centre will help bridge the gap between artists in Nelson Mandela Bay Metro and its head-office in Johannesburg.
She says the contact centre will be able to assist existing members while also signing up new members.
"They must make use of the contact centre and must just ensure, before they go to the radio stations and the media, that they register their work and have it copyrighted. It will take the pressure off them as well, once they know it has been registered with SAMRO" she said.
