Sailors evacuated from Brazilian vessel off KZN coast

An SA Airforce Oryx helicopter from Port Elizabeth assisted in the evacuation of five injured sailors on a Brazilian heavy-lift vessel off the Kwazulu Natal coast.

A sixth crewman suffered fatal injuries in an accident on board the vessel which had been approaching Durban on Tuesday.

No details of the accident were provided.

NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon says the body of the adult crewman who died on the ship would remain on board as this was requested by the Captain.
