Sadtu march to parliament illegal

The Department of Basic Education has warned that a proposed march to parliament on Wednesday by members of teachers union Sadtu will be illegal.

The SA Democratic Teachers Union and Cosatu are expected to announce details of the march on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Department of Basic Education says it has put systems in place to ensure that those embarking on an unprotected strike will be subjected to disciplinary processes.

Spokesperson, Panyaza Lesufi..

"We have alerted all our provinces to treat this strike as an illegal strike and therefore we have put in place strike committees so that we can monitor those who are at work and those who are not. We will take appropriate action against those who do not show up for work"
