Sactwu members in the cotton sector go on strike

About 3000 members of the SA Clothing and Textile Workers Union in the cotton sector are on strike.

Sactwu says it issued a strike notice to employers on Monday following failed wage negotiations.

Union general secretary, Andre' Kriel says the issue in dispute is the employers' final wage package increase offer of 7.75%.

He says workers are demanding a 10% wage increase.

At least one Port Elizabeth company in Neave Township is affected by strike action.
