Eastern Cape traffic cop to be honoured for confronting armed robbers

Eastern Cape Transport MEC, Weziwe Tikana, will hand over a special award to an Mthatha traffic cop who who was involved in a shoot-out with armed robbers earlier this week.
Tikana says the actions of the traffic officer was a positive result of her Department's Operation Masibambisane Campaign launched recently in Mthatha.
The campaign brings provincial and municipal traffic officers together with the SAPS to effectively deal with lawlessness in Mthatha.
Tikana's spokesperson, Ncedo Kumbaca, says they will not reveal the identity of the traffic officer for his own safety.
However, he says he will receive his award from the MEC in Mthatha on Monday.
"This confirms that working together we are able to achieve as various law enforcement agencies in line with the objectives of operation Masibambisane which was launched by the MEC in mthatha last month in an effort to encourage a multi agency collaboration in dealing with all forms of lawlessness that of rubbished that city of Mthatha for too long." says Kumbaca.
