SA sees record number of new COVID-19 cases in a day

Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize has confirmed that the total number of Covid-19 cases in South Africa stood at 131 800, after a record 7 210 new cases were reported on Saturday.

73 new deaths have been recorded - bringing the total to 2 413.

Mkhize says a further 40 deaths were reported in the Western Cape, 17 in Gauteng, 13 in the Eastern Cape, and three in KwaZulu-Natal.

The Eastern Cape has recorded 23 658 cases with 384 deaths.

Nationally, more than 67-thousand people have recovered from the virus.
