SA Roadlink bus drivers in hot water

Western Cape Provincial Traffic Chief Director Kenny Afrika says the two SA Roadlink busses impounded in George overnight - were taken off the road because the drivers did not have the necessary permits to operate in the province.

One of the busses was travelling from Cape Town to Durban, via Port Elizabeth, East London and King William's Town.
The other bus was travelling in the opposite direction - from Durban to the Mother City.

Afrika said the drivers will now have to appear in court in George - and that the two busses will also undergo roadworthy tests as part of the investigation.

Africa feels SA Roadlink was taking a chance by operating in the Western Cape.

"They definitely took a chance and previously we had the same problem with the same company earlier this week. We also impounded two other busses from Cape Town from another company that was also operating on our national roads. We do it to all busses and not specifically one company that we concentrate on" he sai.

SA Roadlink spokesperson Jo Moshwana confirmed to AlgoaFM News that they were aware their busses had been impounded.
