Teachers who have been struck off the educators roll will, in future, be "named and shamed".
The South African Council for Educators says the teachers' names will be published on its website.
Speaking in Pretoria on Monday, Themba Ndlovu of the council said there had been an increase in the number of cases in the 2014/15 financial year compared to 2013/14.
Ndlovu says the names of those who have been struck off the roll indefinitely or for a certain period will be published.
"People can then be able to see who they can or cannot employ and who they can trust with the children. The two critical types of ethical cases we are dealing with right now is that of corporal punishment and sexual misconduct by teachers, against learners" he said.
