Eastern Cape police have once again issued a warning to communities not to take the law into their own hands.
This follows the mob killing of a 30-year-old man at Lugelweni Village near Mount Ayliff on Sunday.
Provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Khaya Tonjeni, says the local community claimed the man had been involving in the killing of other people in the village.
He was stoned to death.
Tonjeni said they're urging members of the community who have information about criminal incidents to rather report them to the police.
"A Standard warning is being issued to members of the community to not take the law into their own hands, because they then become criminals themselves and SAPS would have not other option but to arrest them for their criminal action. It is very critical that the community members work closely with SAPS to report criminals and criminal activities, irrespective of the nature of the incident" he said.
