A group of 54 people are stranded at the Ultra City at Plettenberg Bay after the SA Roadlink passenger bus they were travelling in was impounded by traffic officials at George in the early hours of Friday morning.
The Bus left Cape Town on Thursday and was scheduled to off-load passengers in Port Elizabeth, East London, King William's Town and Durban.
Port Elizabeth resident Chris Bouwer says they were pulled over in George 12.40am and that the bus was immediately impounded for being unroadworthy.
He says another SA Roadlink bus travelling from Durban to Cape Town was also impounded in George - some 20 minutes later - also for being unroadworthy.
Bouwer says a private transport firm has taken them as far as Plettenberg Bay in three Iveco transporters - but refuses to take them any further until they are paid by SA Roadlink.
He says they are getting no response from SA Roadlink head office in Johannesburg and are fast running out of patience.
