Three poachers from the notorious Ndlovu gang were denied bail in the Port Elizabeth High Court on Thursday - pending leave to appeal their effective 25-year jail sentences and certain aspects of their conviction.
They will now remain behind bars until their appeal is heard in the Supreme Court of Appeal, which is only expected to be around August of next year.
The 40-year-old Jabulani Ndlovu 37-year-old Forget Ndlovu and 38-year-old Sikhumbuzo Ndlovu were previously found guilty of all 55 separate counts relating to the poaching and harvesting of rhino horn and were sentenced in the Grahamstown High Court in April this year.
The trio was found guilty of the poaching of 13 rhinos between 2013 and 2016.
The chairman of the One Land Love it Rhino conservation initiative Wayne Bolton who attended proceedings says he was grateful that the Judicial System has shown some political will in this matter by denying bail.
Bolton parked their life-size Rhino Olii on its trailer outside the PE High court.
