A Prosecutor from King Williams Town is expected to make his second court appearance on Friday to face a charge of corruption and extortion.
The 45-year-old Ncedo Moyeni allegedly demanded R5 000 from a person who was arrested for drunk driving in 2018.
Moyeni allegedly called the accused five months after his arrest to inform him that his blood alcohol levels were over the required limit.
A spokesperson for the Hawks Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi says the accused managed to get R4 000 together and promised to pay the balance in installments, however, the man was taken aback when he was informed about his next court appearance for the matter.
The man reported it to the Hawks who managed to trace the investigation to the Prosecutor.
Moyeni withdrew the case citing different seal numbers for blood results as his reasons.
He was arrested in October and made a brief appearance in court where he was granted bail of R1 000.
