The Rheenendal man who allegedly raped and killed nine-year-old Rosaline Philander is expected to appear in the Knysna District Court on Thursday.
The petite little girl's body was found in a wooded area in Rheenendal in August last year after she disappeared from where she was playing soccer with her friends in front of her home in Gousblom Street. Her throat was slashed and an autopsy revealed that she had also been raped.
A 32-year-old family member was arrested later that day. The case has been postponed three times since his arrest.
The children she had been playing with said the suspect approached her and offered her R10 and some fish and chips at Totties - a local store walking distance from where she had been playing. The allegedly left together, but he was later seen without the little girl.
