Correctional Services Minister, Sibusiso Ndebele, will officially launch his department's "reading for redemption campaign" at St Albans prison on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth on Monday.
The launch, which forms part of heritage month, will also see the unveiling of an Integrated Resource Centre at the prison.
Correctional Services spokesperson, Logan Maistry, says the two events will also lead into National Corrections Week which takes place from the 24th to the 30th of September.
He says the Minister has also called on the public to donate books that will help the Department with its efforts to rehabilitate offendors.
