The Department of Water Affairs has issued a warning to residents in two Eastern Cape municipalities regarding their drinking water.
The warning was contained in the latest Blue Drop water report released by Water Affairs Minister, Edna Molewa, on Monday.
She identified the Ikwezi and Kou-Kamma Municipalities where residents have been warned not to consume the tap water supplied by the municipalities without boiling or bleaching it first.
These towns include Jansenville, Klipplaat, Waterford and Wolwefontein, Clarkson, Coldstream, Joubertina, Kareedouw, Krakeel, Sanddrif, Stormsrivier and Woodlands;
The two municipalities were part of 14 red-flagged by the department.
The George Municipality in the Western Cape was one of the top ten performing municipalities in terms of the Blue Drop report.
The Western Cape was also one of top three performing provinces.
