Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga, says there's a renewed and unequivocal commitment towards a shared vision for quality education in the Eastern Cape.
The Minister led a delegation of five deputy ministers to the province over the past few days to assess the intervention programme ordered by cabinet in terms of section 100 B of the Constitution.
In a statement on Wednesday, Motshekga, said the full intervention programme will now kick in and intervention teams have 14 days to provide her with a detailed action plan.
The Minister's visit to the Eastern Cape follows the sudden departure of former superintendent-general Modidima Mannya, who was seen as a stumbling block by the Minister to the implementation of the intervention programme.
