Uitenhage police say a group of commuters stoned Algoa buses early on Wednesday morning.
This, in apparent protest over a recent increase in bus fares.
Police spokesperson, lieutenant-colonel Priscilla Naidu, says about 70 people stoned busses in Kwanobuhle, causing damage to the body work and windows of six busses.
She says police responded quickly and the group dispersed without any further incident.
Naidu says a case of Malicious damage to property was opened at the police station.
