Refuse workers on strike in Nelson Mandela Bay

Nelson Mandela Bay mayor, Nqaba Bhanga, is facing his first strike as refuse removal trucks remain idle at the city's depots.

In a notice late on Tuesday morning, the Municipality did not give any reasons for the industrial action, save to appeal to residents not to take out their refuse bags until further notice.

The strike comes on the same day that a Special Council meeting was called after the DA tabled a motion of no confidence in Speaker, Buyelwa Mafaya.

She adjourned Tuesday's Council meeting after the governing coalition did not show up.

The Metro is currently meeting with the Unions.
