Recruitment drive for volunteers starts for Afcon 2013

The National Youth Development Agency is calling for 2,000 youth volunteers for the 2013 Orange Africa Cup of Nations which will be hosted on South African soil including in Nelson Mandela Bay.

The Agency said on Friday that the recruitment programme is open to all South African citizens in possession of a valid South African green identity document or South African residents in possession of a valid South African Permanent or Temporary Residency Permit, Study or Work Permit.

The National Youth Development Agency says preference will be given to youth, women and people with disabilities.

Senior manager at the National Youth Development Agency, Makume Tlaleane...

"People in the Eastern Cape can walk into the NYDA offices in Port Elizabeth to apply. We are looking at around 500 people but we will obviously take more because they need to be interviewed, so there might be those that don't make it, so we will take more than 500 but we are looking at recruiting 500 volunteers for the organising committee in Nelson Mandela Bay" Tlaleane said.
