Record high temperatures in EC

Cradock, Queenstown and Mthatha all recorded their highest maximum temperatures on record on Tuesday - Cradock topping the list at a sweltering 43.8 degrees, followed by Queenstown at 42.9 and Mthatha at 42.1.

A number of Eastern Cape towns also recorded their highest ever minimum temperatures, with Uitenhage at 23.4 degrees celsius, Knysna at 23, Patensie at 23.9, Cape St Francis at 23.5 and Addo at 23.4

Garth Sampson at the PE Branch of the SA Weather Service says they're expecting conditions to start cooling over most of the Eastern Cape with some light rain from Thursday.

On Friday some light rain can be expected along the coast and eastern half of the province with much needed thundershowers expected in places over the eastern half of the province.
