Nelson Mandela Bay ratepayers will be required to pay an additional one percent for the next three years to fund a Metropolitan Police Service.
That's according to a report tabled in Council on Thursday along with the draft 2014/2015 budget.
Metrominute says the report shows that an additional 1% increase in property rates will be required in the next financial year, starting on the first of July, with an additional 1.3 percent the following financial year, pushing the total projected increases to 11.3 percent.
The report shows that the amount to be funded from property rates for the Metro Police Force in the next financial year will be R225.7 million and escalating over the next two fiscal years.
