Ratepayers Association lays charges

Nelson Mandela Bay Ratepayers Association Chairperson, Kobus Gerber, has opened a case of theft, money laundering and corruption against Access Management, EP Rugby and events organising company Zeranza 299.

Gerber says in a statement that the charges stem from the alleged abuse of funds that were channelled from the Integrated Public Transport System, as well as general ratepayers funds, and then illegally redirected to EP Rugby to pay salaries and running costs.

Gerber names the directors of EP Rugby Pty Ltd and the Directors of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium Operator, Access Management, in his affidavit as well as an official from the municipality's  budget and treasury department - who was suspended late last year pending an internal investigation.

The case was opened at the Mount Road Police Station on Friday afternoon and will be forwarded to the Hawks for further investigation.
