Rare plant spotted in Knysna Nature Reserve

A rare type of plant has been discovered in the Pledge Nature Reserve in Knysna.

A volunteer at the reserve, Nanna Joubert says she came across the plant that is SANBI red-listed as 'vulnerable'.

The plant, called the Dioscorea Burchellii is a relative of the Elephant Foot and the Yam plant.

Joubert says its natural habitat is from Humansdorp to George and it has only been recorded at 10 sites.
