Police in Gqeberha have appealed to the community for help in finding a suspect who allegedly raped a woman in a taxi in Summerstrand.
Spokesperson Captain Sandra Van Rensburg says it is alleged that the victim boarded the taxi in Beach Road near the McArthur Pools on Monday afternoon.
She says during the taxi ride the woman was blindfolded and her cell phone was taken away from her.
It is alleged that the taxi stopped at her unknown location where she was raped by one of the occupants.
Janse Van Rensburg said she was dropped off and when she felt safe to remove the blindfold, found herself in Russel Road where she got help from the community.
"Anyone who can assist in identifying the alleged suspect or can provide any information that could lead to the arrest is asked to contact D/Cst Mziwethemba Klaas on 082 565 0189 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station," she said.
