Eastern Cape police arrested a 33-year-old suspect whose tongue was bitten off by the 65-year-old woman he attempted to rape at her home at Tsomo Mission on Saturday.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Sibongile Soci, said that he was arrested at Cofinvaba Hospital on Sunday where he is under police guard.
She said that the woman was asleep in her home when she was woken up by someone entering through a window.
Soci said the suspect attempted to rape the woman and when he tried to kiss her, she bit his tongue off. He fled the scene.
The suspect will appear in the Tsomo Magistrate’s Court soon.
