Police at Kinkelbos outside Port Elizabeth have opened a culpable homicide docket after the driver of a bakkie was killed in a collision with a truck early on Sunday morning.
According to provincial traffic, the accident happened at the N10 intersection at Nanaga at around 02.20 am.
Authorities believe that the truck carrying coal made a u-turn in the road in the direction of Paterson when the bakkie collided with it on the side.
According to the report, the driver had fled the scene.
The bakkie driver died on impact. The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
